Hi, I'm not sure if you mean Medicare or Medicaid. Medicare does not pay for Long Term Care. Medicaid is established to help those without the means to pay for medical care and IF NECESSARY for long term care. If you haven't applied for Medicaid and need it, you should get that process started as soon as possible. Your county office of aging may be able to help with that. Presumably, the person has some income. social security? Pension? And are there any assets? Savings, investments, real estate? In my area (NE) only a few assisted living facilities accept Medicaid. One required 2 years of private pay before they would accept Medicaid. You might try a computer search of long term care facilities in the area of interest and then call each of them.
