Agree, not sure why you need an ID. The charity gives you a receipt showing their ID and what you donated. I used to fill these out for donations of clothing. I was told by United Way when I asked how do you list the monetary amount said...you don't. It's up to the person donating to list what they are donating and go to the government website where they have how much they will allow for a shirt, pants, ETC. So this means you need to have the blue book value at the time you donated it, probably private sale. You need this back up in case the IRS questions your deduction. But don't think you need a federal ID number.
