Fall detection device?

I'm taking care of my 84 years old mother and I'm looking to buy her a new emergency device with fall detection. I've tried the Philips lifeliner but she doesn't want to wear it because it's too ugly. Do you know any alternative which is less stigmatizing?

Some companies have wristbands also. I would explain to your mother that it is necessary to ensure her safety. If she is unwilling to wear a medical alarm, you will be wasting your money. Good luck and the best to you and your mom.

Thank you for your answers.
Do you use one of them or know someone happy with one specific product?

If you have any alternatives, I'll be glad to hear from you.

Bottom line is that this is a medical devise, IMO you need to go with one that provides the best service for the price you are willing to pay. Unwillingness to wear the device is probably the #1 reason people give up on the idea of personal alarms... they're ugly... too heavy... I forgot... that's just for old people...

Back in the day my grandmother wore a push button alarm the size of a smart phone because she understood the need for the service and wanted to giver her family peace of mind. If your mom doesn't agree there is a need then she isn't going to comply no matter how pretty the pendent (and though they vary slightly in size I've never seen any recommended ones that could be called pretty).

I don't know if this will help but I happened to be watching TV and while I only had one eye on what was on I saw a commercial for a fall detection device. It's small and slim and clips onto the waist band of the pants or on a pocket similar to the way pagers used to be worn. I don't know the name of the company but I remember thinking to myself, "Well look at that little thing!"

Less obvious devices are out there. I wish I had the name for you.
