I agree with freqflyer. Contact State of Illinois Medicaid office because each state is different.
Why is your Mom in skilled nursing (Rehab after hospitalization or surgery?) and how long has she been there? Whose home would your Mom be living in if she does leave the skilled nursing facility and would she be living alone or with someone?
Oldmol, you would need to contact the State of Illinois Medicaid office as each State handles their Medicaid division differently. Medicaid is funded by the State taxpayers.
I haven't heard where any States will bring into a home a Certified Nursing Assistant. Instead an Aide to help a few hours each week, then the family needs to fill in the rest of the hours.
Medicaid has found it is less expensive if a patient goes into a nursing home then to pay caregivers in the patient's own home. I can understand that because when my Dad had around the clock caregivers is was extremely expensive, but the senior housing he went into was less than half the cost.
