What do you do if your mother (94) has scabies from having mites in her bed, but she won't admit it or treat it?
She wont' admit it because she would never have bugs. Refuses to put on cream prescribed by her doctor. We have brought a new bed, bedding and bug bombed her room. Shampooed carpets. She has Alzheimer's and dementia.
OnlyDaughter59, when it comes to having a clean house no older woman wants to hear that there are bugs in her house. What she hears is that she is failing at her "job".
I remember trying to gift to my Mom a cleaning crew to come once a week to help clean. My Mom was horrified, you'd think I was gifting her a box of spiders, how dare I think her house wasn't clean. So I just gave up. Even though there was enough dust to write the Gettysburg Address on her dining room table... [sigh].
As for the cream, maybe put the cream into something else and tell your Mom it's a new beauty cream that will make her skin very soft. There are times when we need to use "theraputic fibs" to get the job done.
