I don't really want to become rep payee, but the local payee organizations are full. My parents' spending is largely okay, but my mom spends a bit too much at Walmart only because she neglects to check her bank account. My dad would be fine with signing his SS checks over to me, and I think I can convince my mom, too. Edward Jones has an income manager checking account that tracks and predicts account balances, and I want to put my parents' deposits there and give them a weekly allowance with a debit card I can remotely reload. I know SSA doesn't recognize POAs, so is becoming a rep payee easy to do with willing, reasonably-competent parents?

Memory Care. The community's Administrator and doctor had to write a note and answer questions about momma’s health and abilities as welll as my credibility. Since your parents are willing and able, take them with you to the SSI office and it’s a fast and easy process.
