If ownership of a life insurance policy was transferred from a parent to a child, MORE than 5 years ago, can Medicaid force surrender of it?
The Nursing Home says Medicaid will not cover Dad unless I surrender 2 Life Policies of which he assigned ownership to my Brother and myself nearly 20 years ago.
I believe they would count as assets if he still owned them, but now I would think they are your assets, not his. I would ask this question of the Medicaid office. Nursing Homes mean well in helping with Medicaid applications, but often they give advice beyond their knowledge level.
