My step mother told her insurance company that my dad did not need to be in rehab to stop payments so that she could take him to the house in the country that has no running water upstairs, and no one is allowed to use the water for any use, because the well will run dry. My step mother is 75 years old and father is 78, they own two houses one is so full of stuff that it is not safe to be there because she has a mental hoarding disorder. The house in the country is filling up fast and is not safe for my dad. He lives in Illinois and I live in Tennessee, What do I do? I have contacted the adult protective services and Illinois but they have not even checked on the house where he stays. My step mother mentally abuses him she told him to quit acting crazy so that he could get out of the hospital. That he would not even be there if she wasn't pushed into taking him to the hospital by his kids. She said this in front of me, hospital staff, doctors and social worker. She made all kinds of ugly statements to him why he was in the hospital bed in front of nurses. She is not capable of taking care of my dad, she works nights at the Post Office and stays in town ( In the house that only has a path through it to her bed). This can not be safe even for her. What to do?

Second, call Adult Protective Services in their city and tell them you suspect elder abuse. You want them to come out and check the living conditions in the house.
