Mother is in memory care and doesn't need to renew her ID card anymore, what papers do I need?

If you do mean she "doesn't" need to renew her ID there should not be anything you need to do. I would think if you needed paperwork the state would send it to you. U canbalways call DMV.

Well, I found this out the hard way when my husband misplaced his social security card and I tried to get another one. His license is expired and SS won’t take an expired license even though his photo is on it and so is all his info.

If Dad’s license is expired for more than 90 days, he would have to take a test to renew it. So like for me, the state I.d. Is the best idea.

I felt I should renew my Moms license as an ID back in 2014. NJ DMV made you bring them in. Mom walked with a walker. She couldn't spell her name anymore, but they needed her to sign even if an X. She had no idea what was going on. Her picture was awful. I swore we wouldn't do it again. Not sure if NJ has a packet.

I’m confused. If she doesn’t need to renew her ID card why do you need papers?

If you mean she DOES need to renew, contact your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles. They will send you a “Homebound” package of forms to fill out. Then, they will send out a field agent to take her picture and will send you the ID. Also, you can ask the facility if they have someone who can come out. Lots of facilities do.

Great info, as I am struggling with not being able to renew my dads driver license, as I have guardianship, he not allowed to drive. Yet I feel he needs a state id card, don't know how to get this, don't want to have to take him o mvd.
