Court date is set. I did this on my own, without an attorney. There are different court fees -- filing fee, proof of service fee, and a $12 fee for "The Letter" (the letter that declares you as the legal guardian) -- $12 for "each" letter. My question is, how many "original" letters do I need? At this point, they only place I will need to present the document is to the nursing home.

And they keep them...... Also if this is like other probate court actions doing it initially will be the cheapest & you wait right then & get them.
Take cash too for them. For some Courthouses anything check requires time to clear before you can get it and there a mail delivery fee and CC add a 2%-5% surcharge.
Good luck and good for you in getting this done on your own!
