My Dad was seeing ants on the wall and in his food. Right away I thought it could be a UTI, and sure enough it was. After a couple of days being on antibiotics the ants started to disappear.
Yes Many things can cause hallucinations. Start with a physical. She may be dehydrated, have a UTI, be having side effects from medications. She may need to see a geriatric psychiatrist and/or a geriatric primary. If this is new behavior, please know that a Urinary Tract Infection can cause the problem and usually requires an antibiotic to resolve.
