Call your local firehouse. See if they lend out durable medical equipment? Try and of the "club" type organizations, like the Masons or Shriners. Check wit Red Cross. United way. Office of Aging. Some insurances will pay for a hospital bed or at least rent it. In the meantime, get Mom a wedge. With pillows on top of it, it may bring her up enough.

Check with your Mom's primary doctor or lung specialist to see if they are able to help you, since your Mom isn't old enough to be on Medicare [even then there are limits with Medicare].
If your Mom is on Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] check with your State Medicaid office to see how does apply for a hospital bed.
