As vascular Alzheimer's progresses, how do we handle the total lack of logic & understanding and fits of rage?

I want to say that my question is to do with Alzheimer's and dementia but it also is about caregiveing and care decions and burnout. I wish I can find a way to handle the complete loss of any reasoning, example ....Auntie insists she wants to see her mother obviously shes passed away about 32 years ago then says that they were on the phone , Everything I do seems to be wrong!!! maybe there is no better approach... but I would love to hear new ideas....
