Actually you don’t necessarily have to pay for the caregiver yourself. Texas Medicaid pays for home health under the Star Plus waiver. Have you been officially diagnosed with dementia? If so, The family caregiver support program may be an option too.

I assume the caregiver is a family member, right? The caregiver can get paid, but the payment would need to come from your own savings. If you can budget that, then you and the caregiver would need something in writing.
