How to prevent from losing the TV remote?

Thanks, Countrymouse. The cox mini-remote is small, she may have bundle it in her clothing, I will have to search all of her items, or she could have left it in different areas outside of her room. I will try to see if setting the tv on and off will work with cable. The glueng of the remote to a fix spot be the answer.

Are you paying for cable? Or does the NH provide it? If you are paying I would stop. There are antennas out there that will bring in local channels. Hopefully the one Mom watches is one of them. Then u use the TV remote. But like ur Mom, mine watched one channel Cozi with all the old shows on it. Or, set the TV for just that channel. Moms LTC provided limited cable, like 13 stations. You should be able to go in and delete the channels you don't need. Then its just a matter of on and off if your set has a button. If not, there are very simple remotes with on and off, channel and volume controls.

I would find a self retracting system that you can super glue to the remote and securely attach to the nightstand, coffee table or the place she most frequently uses it.

You can buy tracking stickers for remote, keys, etc. They are cheap (4 for $16.98 on Amazon).

When Mom started to lose the remote I purchased one of those huge curly ribbon package bows and tied it to it, so it would be easier to spot. That was ok for a while. The next step was getting a huge TV remote. It was about 10” x 6” and almost impossible to lose. It also had really large buttons which helped too.

That's a puzzle. You'd have thought in a nursing home there would be a limited number of places for her to stash the remote in and forget. Have you ever found any clues as to what she's actually doing with them? - I mean, it's not like they're *that* little and easy to lose or hide, as hearing aids or jewellery or even glasses and dentures might be.

Meanwhile, though - if she only ever watches the one channel, what happens if you set her tv to that channel, can you just turn it on at the wall again without using the remote?

Otherwise, I guess you could find some kind of lanyard to glue the remote to her chair or table - but you'd have to watch out that she couldn't entangle herself in it. Just having one of those holders wouldn't work because she'd never put the remote back in it.
