I have used Ammonia in a presoak cycle to get the smell of cat pee out of many items of clothing, towels etc, when my late elderly cat had incontinence. It always worked and was less expensive than the pet stain/smell removers such as natures miracle.
I have a window in my laundry room and would open it when using Ammonia as the smell is strong, but it washes right out.
Use baking soda in the wash cycle and vinegar in the rinse cycle.
When my dad 1st came to our home, all of his clothes stunk of urine, obviously they were not properly handled and I had to run several loads multiple times to get all the odors out, but with regular precautions it wasn't a problem.
I used 1 cup baking soda added to the detergent and 2 cups vinegar at first, the I reduced to a 1/4 cup and 1 cup to maintain odor free.

I had to wash my Dads bedding every morning. It works.
You can add some soap soap if you feel the need...but not necessary just for odor
you can find both in boxes on the bottom shelf in the laundry aisle in Walmart
