Where can I get financial help for dad to pay for a private sitter?

Are there any resources to help the caregivers with financial assistance for private pay sitter services? My 85 year old dad has prostate cancer and is in the hospital and NH since Dec 2018. He has nephrostomy tubes and keeps on pulling at them as he forgets why they are there. He had 2 attacks of sepsis since Dec 2018 and is in state of delirium. I have already used up my savings and borrowed from friends and family to pay sitters while I go to work and hold on to my job. At my wit's end....

Unfortunately you can’t.

Like Barb said, Hospice can come into the NH.

If you get hospice homecare, a lot of the care will fall on you. Someone has to be there 24/7. An aide comes in to bathe but thats about it. An RN shows up every few days to take vitals and see how things are going. She is available 24/7. The rest of the care is up to you.

Having hospice in the NH is so much better. Dad has round the clock care. You can visit, take breaks. Enjoy what time you have without having to do the care.

Hospice can be at the nursing home. It was for my mom.

Why do you pay a sitter. So he won't pull his tubes out?

I agree, call in hospice. They will keep him comfortable and pain free.

Thanks for the reply. Will Hospice be at home?

If he was a Veteran, they offer many types of help in the home.

I feel like it may be time to stop trying to "save" dad. Have you thought at all about involving hospice?

What is your dad's quality of life now? With dementia, recurring UTI, sepsis, cancer, delerium....not understanding why he's in pain? Is it time to let go?
