Not a question. Just warm wishes. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone who is a mom, expecting mom, step mom, adoptive mom, grandma, godmother or any special person who has been a loving mother figure in our lives.

Please share loving or funny stories about any special ‘mom’ or ‘mom figures’ in your life.

My mom was the best cook because her special ingredient was love! She sewed beautifully and made me many things. She was a better ‘fix it’ type person than my dad! Overall, she was an extremely resourceful person. I loved that she allowed us to have pets.

Too many loving things too list. My good memories of mom far outweigh the bad.

My grandmother was so loving and set a beautiful example for my mom and me.

One funny thing my godmother did was always buy me the same thing for Christmas, underwear! As a kid I wanted a doll of toys, haha. Nope! I got underwear every single year, hahaha.

Everyone said that my mom was sweet. She was.

That’s a great story!

I received a pea-green, crew neck, long sleeve sweatshirt one year for Christmas. I thought it was a sign from my stepmother as a dis-. Turns out dad had picked it out. Knowing that dad has horrible taste in women’s clothes, it touched my heart that he came to the rescue in buying me a gift. Good times with dysfunctional family!

To Helen. She was a neighborhood friends’ mother And we adopted each other. She was the mother I never had. You definitely are in heaven! RIP.

Another shout out to Ann. Ann you are still with us, even though your dementia and Parkinson’s have taken away most of “you”. You are one hard bitch. But we grew on each other, and there is love and respect. Big hugs!!

Yes happy day Mother’s Day to all of us and everyone who cares for another in this hard line of work. We’re all mothers in that sense.

God bless us all. May we carry-on!

And dog moms:-)
And I suppose the cat moms too LOL.
Remembering my grandmom (who also had dementia like her daughter) who was always prepared with a full cookie jar and chocolate cake with sprinkles, before we knew that sprinkles were for winners...and even BEFORE dinner.
And the mom who took me under her wings, was my mentor, my sounding board, my support...who left us all too soon, Shirley.
And here's to my mom who tried to do her best. May her dementia not let her water the beautiful of arrangement of pink silk tulips that look like they are in water...
and to my aunt who was put in a dreadful situation that has stirred hurt all around when she is snubbing the good in-town daughter who does all for her and spending the day with the surprise visit of the daughter who never visits and does not speak to the in-town daughter. May they find peace.

gdaughter,

Ooooops! Of course dog and cat moms! All those fur babies are precious! More loving than some people, huh? Haha

Thank you and happy Mothers' Day to you. My grandmother took care of my great grandmother and my mom took care of my grandmother. I only know how to take care of my mom because of them. Generosity and strength of character are the most important examples they provided for me.

Fantastic story! Thanks!

My mom is dying of Alzheimer's disease at very advanced stages, so Mother's day depresses me a great deal and adds to my grieving. There is nothing happy about it. Father's day depresses me too because he's long gone.

cetude, I get that. I truly do. Hugs!

I had the Best Mom in the world, and I wish that she was with me now, God rest her soul, now gone 14 years, my Dad (best Dad Too!) gone 15 years, it's hard to believe it's been that long, she is still so constant in my mind.

My Mom, the youngest of 5, immigrated with her parents after the war to Seattle from Wales, UK in 1950 at age 20. She had been dating my Father since age 16, and he immigrated with them, they were married here that same year. She was the Cutest little thing at 5"2", enjoyed fashion, sewing and knitting, had Great relationships with her 4 siblings, and a Beautiful and Loving marriage to my Dear ole Dad. I am the 4th of 6 kids, 4 girls and 2 boys, we had a magical childhood, filled with Love, extended family, lots of music and just plain Fun.

Our American Uncle who was responsible for sponsoring my Grandparents, my Mom & Dad, her 4 siblings/spouses/ & Welsh Cousins to this country made sure to get us all out on weekends to see the sites of Seattle and surrounding countryside, so most of my childhood memories are of Happy Holiday parties, fun picnics with cousins, with all of my Aunties sharing delicious foods, while our Dad & Uncles entertained us kids playing games in the park & campgrounds, it was never a dull moment in this big extended family.

Most of our vacations were traveling with family caravan style, up & down the western coasts, lits of car camping, Wa, Ore, and Calif, with a bit of Canada and Tijuana Mexico thrown in for cultural flavour, our Mom worked So hard to give us the best of everything, she was a beautiful person inside and out.

My Mom was everbody's Favorite Confidant, she was a good counselor, never passing judgement, and she gave great advise. Our dining table was often a place where friends and family gathered for a good cup of tea and lively conversation.

Our Mom was an Amazing cook, serving up our favorite british fare, incredible desserts, and she was non-stop busy with so many kids under foot. Every day she would have baked something, usually more than one desert or treat, with kids coming in from school hungry. Our Dad never did cook, except his one and only specialty "Hawaian Hotdogs", which was grilled hotdogs on a bun with crushed pineapple, Lol!

Oh how I wish that we hadn't lost our Mom so young, she was only 74 (our Dad 75, died the year before her), she died of Uterine Cancer which spread to her pelvis and other organs. As sad as it was, they had a wonderful 54 year marriage and they were meant to be together in eternity.

Mom made our lives complete, she made sure we were close to our siblings and our cousins, and we are to this day. There was just something about the way in which she showed us her Love, she Loved babies and her Grandchildren were her everything, she had a special relationship with each and every one of them, and they worshipped her. My Mom had a funny british accent which people loved, and she made everyone that ever met her feel comfortable and special. I couldn't have wished for a better friend or Mother. I really miss her, but thank God there is a piece of her in my 3 sisters whom I am very close to.

It's nice to share how truly Special she was, and it makes me miss her all the more! I hope all you ladies have a Wonderful Mother's Day, you are all incredible! ❤❤❤

Helen,

Your momasita sounds like a very strong and wise woman! No doubt, it is why you are successful in life. What wonderful memories, huh? There are blessings in life.

Many senior age women have wisdom and one that I admire greatly is Betty White. Something she said was inspirational to me. She says to focus on the positive. You sound like you do that. I am trying to do that more in life. I haven’t always been able to succeed at looking at the positive more than the negative but I am not giving up. I think the happiest people in this world have accomplished being able to focus on the positive. Thanks for lifting my spirits with your beautiful memories and wisdom 💗.

OMG - how precious is that!! YES Happy Mother's Day to you and your family as well and thank you for the beautiful story.

I am VERY close to my Momasita, coming from a single parent household, my Dad abandoned ship when I was 2. My Mom worked her butt off putting a roof over our head, putting me thru college, NEVER borrowed money or asked for help from anyone. Thus teaching me very important life values that you cannot get in school.

She is my superhero. A great sense of humor and love of life, always supportive and would do anything for her family. I am TRULY blessed to have her. Grateful she is living with us now, it can be challenging as a caregiver but I would not trade it for the world since she is not only my parent but best friend.

We have traveled the world together, she is my favorite shopping pal, go to gal on everything. Her words of wisdom carry me thru lifes' challenges.
