Ok.,need some more help. You guys who are biblical scholars, what are some passages from New Testament which are hopeful. My mom was a biblical scholar, alas I am not.

She would want some scripture read at her send off celebration of life. And I am going to honor that.

We are not doing this soon. Still in a fog.

But any passages that you know which are hopeful, from New Testament and appropriate, come forth if you would.

I had a "slide show" going along with songs that meant something to me. (he was not into music and could not have cared at all about any song) The ones I chose were Love You Like I'm Gonna Loose You (Meghan Trainor) All of Me (John Legend) and the one song he did love. Go Cubs Go! I think there were 1 or 2 more. But the 2 that really meant a lot to me were Love You Like I'm Gonna Loose You and All of Me. They kind of told how I felt caring for my Husband. The photos kind of told his life history. I have seen this done at many wakes and I find out so much about these people looking at the photos. Great way to connect. And it is easy to have copies made so that every one in the family can have one.

My cousins did a photo montage with a song that said how they felt about him when there dad passed.

They made sure that they put pictures of all the kids, grandchildren and friends. It was touching, oh it also included the honors he received during his stint in the Navy.

Dinner, simple or catered are my recommendations. Salad, casserole, nice rolls or bread and desert. Coffee, tea or water.

We did hot dogs and chips with sodas for my nephews celebration of life. Had some fried chicken for those that didn't eat hot dogs. Simple.

We asked everyone that wanted to, to stand up and share a memory or story about my nephew. He was a loving, funny guy so we had lots of laughs amongst the years. It was a great celebration of his life.
