How to make your heart know what your mind knows about placing mom in LTC? She requires someone with her 24/7 due to poor balance and fall risk along with her dementia. When I'm not at work I'm with her.

Lynn, It was CWillie who comforted me when my loved one was taken away.
English Standard Version Bible: "Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.”
Today, my loved one is in AL, by his own choice after living briefly with different family members. Does not fall any more, has friends, is well taken care of by additional private caregivers.

No one person can care for a dementia person full time; it takes several shifts of trained, strong, generally young caregivers.
You are not abandoning your mom; you are changing your role to that of advocate. Believe me, there will be PLENTY to do!
