Chris, the vast majority of grown children who are helping their elderly parent do not get paid.... unless the parent pays you directly. If that is something your parent can do, then I recommend first you draw up an Employment Agreement.
Otherwise, if budgeting is an issue, contact your State Medicaid office to see if your parent can quality, and to see what programs are available in your State. Each State handles their own Medicaid programs.
