How can my sister get paid as the caregiver for my mom in Illinois?

If she doesn’t qualify for Medicaid then the only way for her to get paid is if your mother has the money to pay her either directly or she can get try to get hired by agency & assigned to your mother (your mother would pay the agency which would be quite expensive).

Audvich, the majority of grown children who are caring for their parents do not get paid.... unless the parent can pay that grown child from their own retirement fund.

You mentioned that your Mom does not qualify for Medicaid. If she did qualify, In some States there is a Medicaid program where a grown child can receive some type of hourly rate for a limited number of hours each day. Each State is different with their budgets and programs.

Hopefully others will come in to give answers where they have seen certain programs actually paid a grown child for caregiving.
