I am looking for a dental and vision policy so that my mother's share cost goes to $0. Any suggestions?

This is actually an update to my mother's Medicaid issue. I reported in another post recently that mom was asked to pay $724.00 share cost monthly. Since then, I have been trying to find solutions. Finally, yesterday I visited the Welfare office for the second time. I met with a case worker this time and she told me that a dental and vision policy of at least $130.00 a month will eliminate her share cost. I like this idea. However, I don't know where to get the policy that will meet Medicaid requirements.

I need your help identifying where to purchase dental and vision insurance for mom so she can qualify for Medicaid without a share cost.

Thank you very much. God bless you.

I remember your post and wondered then what are shared cost. If the person is getting Medicaid they are low income. I know there are copays and deductables but 700 is a lot to ask anyone to pay a month. Really, if she can pay 700 a month, she wouldn't need Medicaid.

Go to ur Office of Aging. They can help with Medicaid. They should be able to help find providers for you. My friend just got all her stuff set up with OA now she gets Medicare.

My Mom was sort of covered by my Dads employer. They allowed Mom 1400 a year to pay for her secondary, vision and dental. At the time I opted out of vision. Why? The policies I found didn't really cover enough. Mom had cateract surgery so her glass prescription would never change. Unless she broke her glasses, she didn't need knew ones. She could pay out of pocket cheaper.

Dental was a different thing. There are policies that if you go every six months, one visit is free. Then there are discounts for root canals, crowns, etc.

Thank you, JoAnn29:

You are right! Unfortunately, I need to purchase a plan to reduce mom's share cost.

I appreciate your sharing. Thanks so much for taking time to support me. God bless you.

Other than dental schools this is something I cannot even begin to imagine, so if you find it I sure hope that you will consider sharing it here with us. I can't imagine no deductible in these types of care. Kaiser does do a good job with eye care, glasses every two years pretty much completely covered. Senior supplemental on my Kaiser plan has vision and dental (but there are copays) for the 114.00 month coverage. But limited to state.

AlvaDeer,

Thanks for responding. Yes, it is expensive. Yet, I need to purchase a plan to offset mom's share cost. I appreciate your support. Blessings.
