How do you deal with the delusions from a dementia patient in the middle of the night? I don’t like resperidone because of after effects?

There are other drugs that can help with sleep disturbances. I’m not a big fan of drugging people, to be completely honest. But walking thru Alzheimer’s with my FIL and seeing how desperately agitated he can get at night, it seems more cruel NOT to give him something. Dementia isn’t rational; there are no cohesive thoughts, only emotions. I’d much prefer taking fear and anxiety away if at all possible.
