What to do if your nursing home has a quarantine?

igloo572 Jul 2019
As an aside on all this, please please get both the annual flu shot and the pneumonia shot if your going to be visiting elders in facilities. Pneumonia is a beast of but it is a every ten years shot.

There’s nothing you can do about it. If you want/need to drop something off for him, you should be able to leave it at the front desk.

The nursing home my mom is in was under quarantine for a few weeks during flu season & that’s what I did.

Dodenhoft, just follow the rules of the quarantine. I see from your profile that your Dad is in a nursing home due to Alzheimer's/Dementia. You probably won't be able to visit him until the quarantine is lifted.

Unless the nursing home has available to immediate family visitors disposable gowns to wear over your street clothes, shoe covers, and mask to wear. That could frighten a patient who has memory issues as Dad may not know who you are.

But if Dad is still able to communicate, you can call him on the phone.
