There's a routing and account number setup like a checking account so you can also set up direct deposits. You can install an app on your phone to check the balance or get notified any time the card is used or declined. The card can be used as a credit transaction without a pin being required.

Instead of getting a repoadable card that has a PIN number, why don’t you just buy a prepaid VISA gift card? The activation fee is $4.95. The thing about releasable visas is that there are transaction fees and reloading fees. If you were to buy a $200 gift card, you would only a pay $4.95 activation fee.

I see the US is finally rolling out contactless cards (known as tap and go in Canada) although I don't know if they are available as a pre-loaded card. It's way easier than cash!
