Mom has had 24 hr. Home care for 8 months. She's had 3 falls and her dementia has progressed. She keeps asking where my dad went (passed away in 2010). She says she keeps seeing him and doesn't believe he's gone. We've exhausted all finances and can no longer pay the aides after this week. We have applied for Managed long term care assistance for home only. (She's been denied regular Medicaid) but because of a back log, MLTC wont kick in until possibly Sept or October. There are 6 siblings and we all have full time jobs. We've been covering hours as much as possible to cut down on the cost, but now the well is dry. What do we do in the meantime? Mom cannot be left alone and we're out of money. Any suggestions?

I agree with DollyMe. There will not now be adequate help. Another fall means EMS to the ER, and do tell them you need social services at once, that she cannot return home to an unsafe discharge and unsafe conditions and there is no one there to care for her. That you will decline having her re-enter your home. Social Workers meanwhile will have the ability to get documentation in place and placement in about 1/20th the time you could do it.
Meanwhile gather together anything you may have access to. Who has Medical POA? Who has financial POA. Gather together all financial documentation, so they can be handed over to Social Services. You have been left with your Mom in an unsafe circumstance, and something will happen that will necessitate her going to the hospital. You work from there. Do NOT for a second even consider their platitudes of "We can make this work" and "we will get you inhome help". They will not get you help for more than a few hours for a few days and they will not make it work. They will do all in their power to get you or another family member to take her home. Do not argue. Don not fight with them. Do not respond to them other than to say no one in the family is able to accept her home, and that, if she is sent home no one will accept her and it will be an "unsafe discharge". Those exact words. They will play all sort of games with you. You must remain play-proof.
