Neither is likely to provide a huge amount of money but sometimes every bit helps.

Your profile says your grandma needs 24/7 care and has dementia. Unless she has the money to pay or family members willing to give up their lives, she’s going to need LTC. There isn’t enough public funding to pay for round the clock home care.

There are some Medicaid vouchers available for home care. A family member can sometimes use the waiver to care for a child at home. For an elderly person less likely for a family member to be paid by Medicaid. Even getting a waiver doesn’t mean a caregiver will be assigned. There are shortages and waiting lists.

You can contact Senior Services some have programs that will provide a caregiver that will come in to help out.
Is your Grandmother a Veteran? If so it is possible she may be eligible for services through the VA. Was Grandpa a Veteran? If so would she qualify for any benefits?

Generally no, unless your grandmother has the funds to pay you, you will not be paid. There are very few exceptions to this.

If she owns her home, she can sell it to pay for nursing home care.
