My father's pension was suspended a yr ago. Proof of competency. Dr month ago wrote he wasn't, it needed notorized, was not. Is it legal?

Most doctors offices and hospital clinics have a notary on staff for just this reason. Check with the medical records clerk.

It sounds to me like LABF wants the doctor to have it notorized. Do they exect a Doctor to cancel his appointments to get this thing notorized? Most doctors are actually a company or a partner in the company. some work for other doctors and are not a company.
I know there are lawyers in Illinois that will do work similar to this for a percentage of the recovery fee. My brother had one years ago. You might try searching for one.
How can they tell you that you must file for guardianship? That is a very lengthy
and expensive process requiring court appearances and a life time of commitments and record keeping.
I only needed one letter from DW's Dr. to get guardianship in NV. Nothing was notarized. And the court accepted it, as did anyone holding an account on DW.
I agree with sendhelp. How were they able to aquire his medical records? That part sound illegal to me without some explanation.

Sorry, I have never heard of a pension being suspended. Did you try to get payee because of his Dementia? If the document needs to be notarized, then do it. All you need to do is prove that Dad is who he is. Your bank should have a notary. Your Municipality should have a notary. Its just a matter of the notary putting her/him seal on the paperwork. Take Dad with you with his license/State ID. A Passport. Birthcertificate. Anything that proves he is who he is. The doctor is not responsible for notarizing.
