When is it time to place Alzheimer's patient in memory care? Driving me crazy with nonsense talk.

At day care, but when he’s home a different person, all interest is in food, gas in the car and the bank. I reached out to some memory care facilities today; felt guilty, but not now. Refuses to go to sons today for his birthday. I am angry.

Dolly, does this happen all the time? I ask because my husband, who doesn’t have cognitive issues, has already called me from the rehab where he is for mobility issues three times in 45 minutes and I visited him this afternoon! He also has an inordinate interest in food and insists I tell him everything I had for every meal all weekend. He does it because he is bored and wants to be part of my life.

Do you think he qualifies for Memory Care? If my husband refuses to go somewhere, I go without him. And have a good time. If yours continues to repeat the same questions, just give him short answers. That’s part of the disease. Putting him in MC for this seems a little drastic unless he has other issues like wandering off.

Patience is truly a virtue and those who deal with dementia patients have to have a lot of it.
