Needs urinalyis to check for infection, then possibly urologist to check for bladder cancer. However, blood in urine can often be harmless, caused by minor trauma to abdomen. If your dad is on any kind of blood thinner, blood in urine is a common side effect. Even if bladder cancer is found, a lot of bladder cancers are low grade and easy to remove (under very mild anesthesia or just local) with no need for further treatment.
Thanks. I have had his urine checked and the doctor has prescribed antibiotics as he suspects a urinary tract infection. The sample will also be sent to the hospital for a more detailed examination.
