My 91 yr old mother is in a nursing home. There has been a problem with the air condition temp. Any suggestions?

i was told that the maintenance guy put a lock on the unit at 75 degrees. The room still gets cold at times. I can move the temp up and down and I can hear the shift but he says it's still locked on 75. My mother's roommate is cold natured also but she is on the other side of the room. My mother is beside the air conditioner. They both have dementia. I really don't want to move my mother into another room.

My mom was always cold in the NH just because she was very old and very sedentary, the best I could do for her was to make sure she had plenty of warm clothes - undershirts, sweaters, lap blankets and socks. It's unfortunate when you touch them and they feel like ice 😟, in the summer we would sit outside for a while until she warmed up.

My bro complains about this all the time. Lives in So. Ca. Can control in his rooms but says the dining and common areas are SO COLD. He has to bundle up in 115 degree weather outside. I think to make the inside and outside so very different not necessarily even real good for them. They say it is difficult for them to control, but who am I to say.

It could be the draft that bothers her more than the actual temperature, are there curtains that can be drawn around her bed? If not perhaps you could invest in an inexpensive room divider/screen.

75 is warmer than room temperature. Mom should wear a sweater if she feels cold. Making it warmer is not good for her.

It's probably not good for her to have it too cool, especially when it's still "summer" in the south. I get a sore throat when the stupid AC is set at 75, but I can move around a lot very easily to warm up. (When the hot flashes start one day, I may sing a different tune! lol)
