There is very little funding in PA to pay family members to be caregivers. My sister and I were not paid to care for our parents. What we didn’t do was paid for to an agency by our parents.
In the State of PA there is a program where the person is trained by an agency. You can then ask to be placed caring for a LO or friend. You will be paid by the agency with taxes being deducted from your pay. Some advertise benefits.
Some have mentioned on the site that in some states Medicaid pays u to care for LO. Other states send in aides. Need to see what ur state does.
The OP is in GA which doesn’t have that program, most state sdon’t have that program. Her state doesn’t really pay family caregivers as I already pointed out.
You can have a caregiver contract drawn up & your mother can pay you using her own funds. Unfortunately you are in one of the states that doesn’t really pay family caregivers except in certain circumstances such as living in a rural area where it is difficult to hire caregivers. Unfortunately you aren’t in a rural area. You can try contacting your area on aging to see if there is anything in your community that would pay you but your mom will also to be both financially and medically needy.
