Increased sleeping and dementia is quite normal and it is normal in normal aging without dementia as well. I used to tell families of patients "they get tired" and truly, they do. They wish ultimately to do almost nothing but sleep. You can google or other search engine and look up " increased sleeping and dementia" and find a lot of information.
When you say sleeping all the time, what do you mean? Does he get up for meals and to toilet? Or does he stay in bed all day?
My Dad sleeps between 18 and 20 hours a day. He is 90 and I do not worry about it. He gets up for meals, still grocery shops, does a bit of weight lifting, makes his meals, toilets and gets himself to appointments. He can only manage one outing a day without being even more tired the next day.
