Pamela, are you getting enough breaks? You probably need more than counseling, you need a long break to get refreshed. Contact your area's Council on Aging as they have many resources for you to explore. Even a little help is better than none. Also, if you are a member of a faith community do let your needs be known to the leadership staff as they should be able to provide even temporary help to you. If you don't attend anywhere it would be good for you to pick a place to attend (not a giant church, but small to medium) where you can get a different type of support and where congregants will see your situation up close and personally. As an elder in a small church, we have helped many many people who have walked through our doors for reasons that are not necessarily spiritual and have gladly helped them. Blessings to you and your son!
You might wish to contact the Alzheimer's Association alz.org then click on local resources to seek out an Alzheimer/Dementia group; there are certainly groups that are held that are free in your area.
