My mother in law who I care for cares for brother in law who has mental illness along with sister in law. I'm worried when I am not there.

I am there during the week days but not there on weekends. Worried she's not getting the attention she does when I am there. They don't treat her very good. Guess they don't understand the dementia like I do. Very sad.

She really needs to be placed in skilled nursing, but she is not financially able. So many loop holes.

Brother in law is POA also have a elder law attorney. but not sure and help?

Just need some advice. My Mother in law needs better care really worried. Such a wonderful person. She has cared for them many years since their diagnoses with mental illnesses. Now it's her time for care breaks my heart.

Thank You.

Speak to her doctor about a social worker referral. The social worker can inform you if there are any programs that she can apply for due to her low income.

Best wishes to you and your family.

I agree with ahmijoy, call APS or 911 if they are threatening her. Mental illness is a horrible thing to have. My Mother has it and one of my sons has it. They can barely take care of themselves let alone someone else.

Call Adult Protective Services in your county and anonymously report impaired adults at risk. If you ever hear them threaten her, call 911 immediately.
