What to do with a 94 yr old grandmother who lies?

She is of sound mind, so all the doctors tell me. She will become upset with me when she can’t have something her way and right now (she lives with me and my husband) she will accuse me of stealing her money and taking her unwillingly out of her apartment. Although her Social Security is not enough to pay for an apartment let alone other costs. 3 yrs ago she asked me what she’s going to do and I offered her our home. Now I regret it.

She needs to be seen and evaluated by a neurologist for dementia. It won’t change things as there is no cure and if she is suffering from it, there is no cure and her behavior will continue to deteriorate. However, you will know what her future holds. She can be on meds that will help control her anxiety over being stolen from and taken out of her home against her wishes. If she does have dementia, she is not lying. She truly believes what she is accusing people of is really happening.

My mother has been lying all her life, she accuses people of stealing her jewelry, her money and so on, none of it happened. I have no clue as to what can be done, my mother is also 94.

I am going to follow this post, perhaps some one has an idea.

My MIL was never diagnosed with dementia, but boy oh boy did we know she had it! Even in her 60s she would accuse people of stealing her money ( at her job and at home) We would find the money.. it still would not change her mind. She liked to accuse people ( my FIL and me and another long time friend of hers) of trying to poison her.. she used to pack up her dinner on a tray and take it to the bathroom with her if she had to go during the meal.. no lie! So take the "sound mind " with a grain of salt. My MIL and FIL moved in with my BIL and his wife at 90.. they dumped her in a MC so fast your head would spin. ( Didn't move in with us as my parents were already here)
