I have been looking for assistance to help me pay for in home care. There isn’t any unless you have Medicaid. Anyone have any suggestions?

Even on Medicaid I don't think you will get all or even most of the care covered, if any. It's too costly and labor-intensive from the county's perspective. If your LO isn't already qualified I would consider getting them into a good facility that accepts Medicaid on private pay. When your LO's money runs out and they apply and qualify for Medicaid they will move them into a Medicaid bed (which means a shared room). LO will get the same amount and quality of care as they did before. We did this for my MIL and are very satisfied. FYI current residents of a facility get first dibs on the limited Medicaid beds, so there may be long waiting lists if your LO goes onto Medicaid before transitioning into a facility.

Contact your local Area Agency on Aging. They may be aware of some assistance available. Get person qualified for Medicaid. If they have assets these should be used to pay for care until they qualify for Medicaid.
