My 88 yr old grandmother is as independent and stubborn as they come.
She will get a shot in her eye and drive herself home. Very sharp and stubborn. Lately, she gets weird ideas about meds or allergies, what she eats, etc and despite doctor insisting she follow his orders, she won't. She won't let me help. I feel if she wasn't my grandma, I would be more stern or insistent. I told my uncle, her son but that doesn't help either..especially since I live with her.

I agree with Country Mouse, if Gma has a Dementia she cannot make informed decisions concerning her care. She also has probably lost her reasoning ability. Poor Vision, she shouldn't be driving. With Dementia she shouldn't be driving.
