My grandma will not follow doc orders on rx, she thinks she knows best. How can I ease myself in to her letting me monitor them?

I worked for Visiting Nurses as a secretary. One of our clientsvwas a woman I knew and she was stubborn. She was suppose to be taken a med for skaking. One of the Nurses knew she had put them in her pill box but they weren't there. So she looked in the cabinets and there in a cereal bowl filled to the brim where the pills. The Nurse told the client no problem if she didn't want to take them, but stop buying them.

I agree with Country Mouse, if Gma has a Dementia she cannot make informed decisions concerning her care. She also has probably lost her reasoning ability. Poor Vision, she shouldn't be driving. With Dementia she shouldn't be driving.

My mother is 94, she takes what she wants and hides the rest in a drawer. If that is what she wants to do, I leave it at that...she does know what she is doing. At her age she feels that it doesn't make any difference, who am I to argue with that?
