My mother fell and upon leaving the hospital suggested she get physical therapy at a facility for 21 days. Will they take her SSA check?

It's a temporary stay. She's on the Medicaid spend down program. Will the facilty take her ssa check?

No, they will not take her SSA for rehab. Be aware though, that Medicare only pays 20 days 100%. After that to 100 days they only pay 50%. So her suppliment will need to pay the balance but even then she may owe $160 a day. If Mom can't afford that, tell them that from the beginning. That Mom cannot afford to be there pasted the 20s Medicare pays for.

If they recommended rehab, then by all means take advantage of it. It helps tremendously and is obviously needed. She will receive physical and occupational therapy which will help with strength and balance.

Best wishes.

Md, I'm assuming that your mom has been in the hospital and that it has been suggested that she go to rehab.

Medicare will pay for rehab in full for 20 days IF she is making progress. Her SS check will not be affected.
