He most likely has something called Essential Tremor (because of his age) but it could be caused by other things. I would start by calling his doctor, they may want to see him in person for an actual diagnosis.
Annalou, I see from your profile that your Dad is 88 years old. As we age we start to loose some energy so it is quite normal to sleep more. At 88 he is tired, he's had a very long life.
As for the shaking, that is also normal. I am only 73 and I have mild tremors that are just part of aging, my primary doctor isn't concerned. And I find myself napping where before I never did. I don't plan to go anywhere any time soon :)
