A Place for Mom is a place that assists others in finding facilities. You can simply google assisted living facilities or nursing homes in your area and tour them on your own.
Are you looking in your own city or from far away?
When we use a place for mom to help us sort through the available options it costs us nothing, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the facilities are bearing those costs. A lot of facilities choose to hire companies to help fill their beds, especially if they are located in a highly competitive market; there's nothing nefarious about it.
BTW, if you want to find out which local facilities use the service all you need to do is search the online database of recommended facilities, they aren't sending you anywhere that isn't one of their clients.
If you don't use the service, then you don't pay their fees. As far as I know, they are not "in charge" of any ALs. Its a service.
If you find a place on your own, you can not be required to pay any fees to this type of service. I live in South Jersey. I used no service. Just went to the local AL and signed my Mom up.
Maybe these ALs advertise that "A Home for Mom" recommends them.
Just looked up the AL. Very nice. It looks like at one time it was associated with the Catholic Church. I saw nowhere on their site anything about "A place for Mom".
We don't provide information on individual ALs. This forum covers members from all over the US, Canada, UK and other countries. I think the forum has a search feature where they can show ALs in the area. But you need to do the research.
