Can my 43 year old son stay with me in assisted living?

JoAnn29 Feb 2020
Your profile says you need ur son for dressing and meds. The AL should be providing these services. Yes, at a cost. In my Moms AL, only a Medtech can distribute meds. The facility was responsible for all residents meds. None were allowed in the room.

You need to read ur contract with the AL. Then talk to the Administrator. If allowed, there will be an extra charge. He will need to pay for his meals. And is ur room big enough for two. You may have to upgrade.

Actually no one here here can tell you the real answer to this question. It depends on the rules of the facility. He doesn’t necessarily have to be disabled in order to live with you in AL, if he is your documented caregiver then he may be allowed to stay there. But if he’s not your caregiver and just needs a place to live, they would probably let him stay there but it won’t be free, he or you will have to pay.

Unless your son is disabled, he cannot reside with you in an assisted living place. If you are talking about an overnight visit, check with the facility you reside in.

The homes my family are in will allow an overnight stay of 3 nights total, twice a year, for an emergency, like here a hurricane or from a out of town guest, that is it. No full time living there.

Your best bet is to ask your facility, some AL's do allow overnight guests. If you mean to live then no, I don't think any would allow that.
