We are caring for my great grandma who's 89 years old, she has vascular dementia she was diagnosed with this 2.5 years ago. The last few day have been fairly bad, yesterday she was just completely blank. She couldn't drink or eat she choked while she tried to take her tablets (anti-biotics for current chest infection) today she is much worse. She's too weak to get out of bed and she can't talk it's like she wants to but she can't. Is this normal? I don't know what to expect here. Any advice would be appreciated

Some suggestions, would be perhaps a picture board with basic needs. Bathroom, water, ect.
She may be experiencing anxiousness. I love foot message therapy, it seems to be relaxing and beneficial. Reassure her that everyone is good and she is safe and you are by her side and happy to be there with her. Although they at times cannot communicate, they can always hear whats going on. Does she use oxygen support? Sometimes a little boost is beneficial during this time.
Hope this helps and please receive my warm embrace.
