My question has to do with living in Arizona and Medicaid. Should I be worried?

Mom has recently quit claimed her house and property to us 3 remaining siblings. Will she lose her Medicaid coverage?

We are looking after her at home, she does not need outside long time or short time nursing home care and we intend to keep her home as long as we can. But I worry that should she need nursing home care in the event of dementia or debilitation and we could no longer look after her at home that she would be denied. She currently has Medicaid and I'm worried she may lose it after the change in deed. Should I be worried?

If her Medicaid supplemental insurance is based solely on her monthly income, maybe not. If assets are considered (like the $2000 for Medicaid LTC), then maybe so. Your mother is obligated to spend her assets on her care before asking the taxpayers to foot her bill.

Call the state Medicaid office and ask or see an elder law attorney.

Call them and ask. You can undo this if it will cost her coverage, but you need to know asap.

There are many layers of approval, so you really need to speak to her case manager to ensure that she is not causing herself harm.

HI, thank you for the answer. I was specifically wondering if she could lose her regular medicaid, her supplemental health insurance. Do you know the answer to that? I can't seem to find the answer to that online. Thanks again.

You should contact ALTCS and ask them.

There are other factors that decide if she is eligible, but yes, transferring assets could cause a penalty period that she would not get ALTCS for LTC.
