Hi, I know some of you know me from my former postings in which my mom was severely scammed a few years ago and you all tried to help me and also very thankful for the help. I'm now my mom's dpoa and all her existing property is in my name. However, since she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a year ago, things have started to happen. Since she won't tell me who threatened her years back and took all her funds, I show up unannounced -to see if I find anything peculiar when visiting her. This time I also showed up unannounced and noticed that her entire kitchen was very dirty and she had burned 2 large saucers. And all she cares about is her cats. But anyway this concerns me and also her safety. She has no funds left only her SS checks which aren't very much. I'm going to talk to her social worker today but wondering where should I go for assisted living when she is on a very limited budget or does the state of Texas have any assistance at all??? Thanks.

I would encourage you to talk to someone (like the AAA) who can guide you.
ALos understand that for long term Medicaid, there is a 5 year look back on large financial transactions. I hope that you or mom reported the monies that were stolen to the police. Otherwise, it is going to look like she gifted the monies to someone.
Please don't let you or mom be discouraged from applying. I'm saying this so that Medicaid questions don't catch you unawares.
