What is the usual length of time spent in a behavioral health ward?

My dad was in for 45 days to regulate his medications for his episodes.

In situations like this it maybe just a 72 hour hold to evaluate. My GFs father became violent at his AL and was in a Psychic hospital for a month to get the right combo of Meds. It can take 30 days before they know if a med works.

At this point, I would not take Mom back. I would probably find a good MC (private pay) or NH if no money with Medicaid.
