Husband's many behavior issues started last year. These issues make caregiving very difficult. Bathroom issues are so time consuming. Advice?

Diagnosed 9 yrs ago:

He wears pull up depends and I have him in sweat pants however he still goes into bathroom and occasionally hits the toilet but mostly gets it all over and sometimes pees in shower, garbage can, laundry basket etc etc

Doesn’t flush or wipe either

Had diarrhea but started giving him medicine which stopped that issue.

Wow, you've got your hands full. Bathroom issues are really just the worst. I luckily do not have to deal with that yet, only once when the flu and a high fever was it an issue. For me, that is a line in the sand. I am NOT, can not, going to deal with that. Just too much work and too much yuck.

I agree with others, it's time to think about putting him somewhere where they can care for these issues professionally.

This is becoming too much for you. Please allow others to be there for him. Look into placement. You have been a wonderful wife and caregiver but there comes a time we may have to let go of the hands on work.

Do you have any help?

Maybe its time to think about LTC. If money is a problem consider Medicaid. You would become the Community Spouse. Your assets will be split spending down his portion. You will not be made impoverished.
Check with Medicaid in ur county. Each situation is different.
