My son is 38 in a nursing home. If I removed him from the nursing home without Dr advice, would Medicaid pay for the supplies?

Like lift, bed, diapers, chair, wheel chair?

38 is so young. Can you take care of him the rest of your life as you age? As already mentioned, he is there for a reason.

I don't think Medicaid pays for durable equipment. These are questions you need to ask his Medicaid caseworker.

38 is young to be in a nursing home. Looking at what you think you will need and with a disability of ur own, I agree that it will be hard caring for him on your own. For someone without a disability this would be hard to do alone.

Is this what your 38 yr old wants. Does he realize how caring for him will impact your life and health?

dorakay, so sorry your son is in a Nursing Home. Please note, he is there for a reason. The reason is that it now takes a village to help with his daily care.

Curious why you would want to bring your son home? Will you be your son's only caregiver? If yes, can you work 168 hours per week, thus doing the work of 3 full-time caregivers every day without any time off? Your profile says you are disabled. Curious, how are you alone going to do this work?

Have you checked first to see if Medicaid would send out help, and for how many hours per week? Don't expect around the clock care at home, as it is less expensive for Medicaid to have your son in a Nursing Home. Don't forget, Medicaid is funded by the taxpayers.

As for what will Medicaid pay for if you take your son out of the hospital without a Doctor signing off on this, it could create a complex situation as you are going against medical advice.

Lot of things to think about.
