Do you ever stop feeling guilty or selfish for putting your spouse in a facility?

Spouse or parent, or whatever, I am sure many feel guilt. A normal human emotion, to a normal event. But, you have found him the care he needs that you were not able to provide any longer. That is nothing to feel guilty about. Very few can even do what you have done. It requires love, strength and a perseverance that only a caregiver understands. Relax find a caregiver support meeting and therapy.

I am sure that many feel guilt initially or even throughout the entire time a loved one is in a facility.

Ask yourself self this question though? Where are they receiving the best professional medical care? I am sure this was the reason that you placed them in a facility, right? To receive good care. So, what is there to feel guilty about?

Seems like more guilt would be attached if you didn’t place them and you could not give the proper care at home.

So sorry that you are struggling with guilt. Can you participate in a caregiver support group? Can you participate in therapy or group therapy? It helps.

Best wishes to you 💗.
